What changed in each build, on iPhone and Android, and what we know is still missing.

1. September 11, 2026Shipped

   Build 34: addresses that were there all along

   Three of you wrote in to say the app could not find an address you had lived at. It could not, and for three different reasons — none of them that the address was missing. Plus a version number in Settings that has been lying since the first build.

2. September 10, 2026Shipped

   Build 30: the map, the routes, the search and the voice are ours

   iOS build 30 · Android version 17

   The largest change the beta has had. Maple Maps stopped renting most of what it runs on — the map is drawn from OpenStreetMap on a machine in Québec, routes are worked out there, search answers from ten and a half million Canadian places, and the voice is one we make ourselves. Plus three days of your emails, a voice you can hear in a moving car, and closures from four cities the provinces do not cover.

   Build 18: sixteen fixes, and a map you can read

   The biggest batch yet, and almost all of it came from two days of your emails. Larger text and colour-blind-safe route colours, directions that read the way the voice sounds, and a long list of things that were quietly wrong.

   Build 17: a LOCAL badge for independent shops, and the emails of a single day

   Independent shops get a red LOCAL badge, starting with Edmonton and Calgary. Then ten fixes from one day of your emails, arriving in your own driveway among them.

   Builds 15 + 16: your music comes back, the thing you typed comes first, and search where you are looking

   Every line of this build is a reply to someone's email, including one of mine. Music that comes back after a prompt, search results that start with what you typed, the part of the map you are looking at, and routes that say gravel or ferry up front.

   Start from anywhere, results on the map, and the screen stays on

   iOS build 14 · Android release 9

   Everything in this build came from your first week of driving with it. A starting point you choose, numbered pins for search results, the turn after next, a proper speed-limit sign, and the two fixes most of you asked for.

   Lane guidance, directions spoken on time, and a voice you can choose

   iOS build 13 · Android release 8

   The biggest build yet, and most of it came from your emails. Lanes drawn under the instruction, prompts in three stages tuned to the road, a better voice, a smoother arrow, and four fixes from the first day of driving.

   Swipe the panel away, and Home stops grabbing the wrong place

   iOS build 10 · Android release 7

   A short build, and everything in it came from your emails. The search panel can be dragged out of the way, setting Home asks before it saves, and Android testers get their first build.

   The position dot was hidden under the route line; it is now an arrow drawn on top of everything, and it sticks to the road. The Canadian-owned list nearly doubled and now distinguishes confirmed ownership from Canadian roots.

    The route line turns green so traffic colours can sit on top of it, tapping a result opens a card with hours and amenities, and Canadian-owned businesses get a maple leaf.
