The Canadian brands list
590 brands carry a maple leaf in Maple Maps. Here is every one, why, and where we checked.
The rule: Headquartered in Canada and Canadian-controlled. Franchise locations of a Canadian brand count; Canadian storefronts of foreign-owned chains do not. The leaf is for brands, where the question is who owns them and where the profits go. A single shop gets the LOCAL badge instead: the local option beside the others.
Local independents
The LOCAL badge marks an independent business: one shop, one address, and the people who run it are the people you meet inside. No chain, no head office somewhere else. It is a simple way to spot the businesses in your community when you are choosing where to stop, so the local option is easy to see next to the others.
Businesses carrying the badge today: Edmonton and Calgary so far.
Your city not here yet? Cities join as their business licences become available to us, and a business owner can put their city on this list themselves: add your business in the portal, and once it is verified it is here. If you would like your city added, name it in the form.
Own one of these businesses? Claim it, or add one we do not have, and keep its hours, phone, website and pin right: the business portal.
